The Hope Farm Vision

We at Hope Farm reside in Neerim South, in Gippsland, Victoria.  It has always been our long-term vision that the Hope Farm bakery would be located in Gippsland.  We believe that we have a unique product for both the Gippsland Region and Victoria as a whole and our vision is to establish a ‘tourism based’ facility that enables visitors to experience the ‘traditional art’ of making sourdough bread.

We believe that our unique range of organic sourdough breads ideally complements the wines, cheeses, fruits and preserves that are promoted as part of the delicious products already available in Gippsland.  With this in mind, we are keen to develop a facility which includes a retail outlet and café/restaurant that would use and sell a wide range of the local produce to complement our bread.  As residents of Gippsland, we at Hope Farm wish to more closely identify ourselves with the area and introduce our product and experience to further enhance Gippsland as a tourist attraction.

Being located an hour’s drive east of Melbourne and set amongst green rolling hills at the foot of Mount Baw Baw, Hope Farm Community is located in the heart of Gippsland country.

Hope Farms vision of a local tourist-based bakery would provide visitors with the following ‘sensory’ experiences:

·         A self-guided tour through the Hope Farm bakery to view through glass screens the Hope Farm Christian Community making organic ‘sourdough’ bread in the traditional way and being baked in a traditional wood-fired oven.

·         To be able to taste the produce of Hope Farm Bakery and other gourmet products from the area whilst visitors are experiencing the aroma of freshly baked bread.

·         Learn how to make and bake their own sourdough bread giving visitors a unique experience to touch, taste and smell their own bread being made.

·         Wander through a local produce retail area, which will provide visitors the opportunity to purchase Hope Farm bread products but also other locally produced gourmet and food products.

·         Enjoy the café and/or restaurant facility with magnificent views over Tarago River Lake and the surrounding countryside.  The café/restaurant will provide refreshments using not only Hope Farm products but other local produces such as smoked goods, fish, berries, tomatoes, preserves, wines etc.

·         View local arts and culture with showcase displays.

The overall facility could be linked to the existing ‘Gippsland Gourmet Deli Trail’ and become a central facility from where tourists could then also be provided with information on other tourist attractions and facilities not only for local produce such as wineries, fruit farms, preserves etc but also natural attractions such as Tooronga Falls, Mt Baw Baw, Mt Worth State Park and visitor accommodation.

At present we at Hope Farm see this as medium to long-term goal and vision.  We look forward to introducing to Victoria a facility that allows us all to appreciate the breads, cheeses, wines, preserves and the magnificent scenery of the area "As God Intended".
